Combo chip brings high-performance connectivity to new satnav

TomTom GO Discover is claimed to be one of the quickest and most powerful satnavs on the market today. The satnav with its 5″, 6″, and 7″ display leverages the AIROC CYW43455 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth combo chip from Infineon Technologies AG. The wireless solution combines Wi-Fi 5 (802.11 ac) and Bluetooth 5.0 on a single chip and provides fast and robust wireless connectivity crucial to the navigation device. Infineon’s AIROC family incorporates a wide range of wireless solutions that achieve reliable, high-performance connectivity.

The TomTom GO Discover claims to download map updates three times quicker than other navigation devices and is powered by the integrated 5GHz Wi-Fi frequency band. Furthermore, with the integrated Bluetooth interface, the device can also be connected to a smartphone, making real-time traffic information and the company’s premium live services available at all times.
