The heat keeps waning! Why did Apple’s sales in China plummet?

Recently, analysts at Credit Suisse Bank said that due to the waning enthusiasm of Chinese consumers for the iPhone produced by the US Apple, it is estimated that iPhone sales in China will continue to decline.

Analysts pointed out that sales of Apple mobile phones in China in November 2019 fell 35.4% compared with the same period in 2018, and in October it fell 10.3% compared with the same period last year. Apple’s mobile phone sales in China have fallen by more than double digits for two consecutive months.

Since the launch of Apple’s iPhone 11 series in September, the total sales of Apple’s mobile phones in China have fallen by 7.4% compared with last year, and the sales revenue of iPhone mobile phones in China from September to November fell by 17.5% compared with the same period last year.

In addition, according to data from market research firm Canalys, Apple’s market share in China fell from 6.4% to 5.8% in the second quarter of this year, and sales in the second quarter of this year also fell by 14% compared to the same period last year.

Competitive pressure from domestic manufacturers in China is one of the main reasons for the decline in iPhone sales. According to technology market research firm Canalys, in the second quarter of this year, iPhone shipments fell by 14% year-on-year, and its market share fell to 5.8% from 6.4% in the same period last year. In the third quarter, Apple’s market share in China fell further to 5.2%, while Huawei’s market dominance was further strengthened, with its market share rising to 42.4%.

Still, Apple analysts are optimistic about the performance of the latest iPhones when they launch in China. In September, wait times for some new iPhones in China were two to three weeks. The delivery time of the device can reflect the needs of consumers.
