Vishay Introduces Small Aluminum Capacitors to Improve System Design Flexibility and Save Board Space

MALVERN, PA — October 28, 2020 — Vishay Intertechnology, Inc. (NYSE: VSH) today announced a new line of low impedance, automotive-grade small aluminum electrolytic capacitors — the 170 RVZ, with up to 3.8 A of ripple current, It can work at high temperature of +105 °C and has a service life of up to 10,000 hours at 105 °C.

Compared to previous generation solutions, Vishay BCcomponents 170 RVZ series capacitors offer lower impedance and 10 % to 15 % higher ripple current, allowing designers to use fewer components, increasing design flexibility and saving board space. In addition, the devices are AEC-Q200 qualified and available in various small form factor packages from 10 mm x 12 mm to 18 mm x 40 mm.

The 170 RVZ series capacitors feature radial leads, blue sleeve insulated cylindrical aluminum housings, rated voltages up to 63 V, capacities from 100 µF to 6800 µF, and low impedance. The capacitor has the function of preventing charge and discharge.

This series of devices are polar aluminum electrolytic capacitors with non-solid electrolytes, RoHS compliant, suitable for smoothing, filtering, and buffering of switching power supplies and DC/DC converters in industrial, automotive, communications, medical, and consumer applications.
